They master Chef.

The other day in the car Isaiah asked me to make Chicken Peazioni for dinner. Okay problem is I don't know what that is. So I asked him. He told me what was in it. It sounded interesting. I asked him who told him about it. And he told me maybe his tummy because it wanted to eat it. So my son made up this whole detailed recipe. Well last night I finally had time to make it, well we made it. I had him help me as much as he could.

Here is the recipe

Chicken breast cut into pieces (cook in skillet with a little olive oil until well done).

Add at the last minute 1/2 cup peanuts (salted) stir constantly

Add spaghetti sauce (Isaiah said it needed red sauce so this is what I got) I don't know how much I just put enough to cover the chicken well but not leave it soupy.

then add white cheese (I used graded Italian blend. Isaiah put in a couple of good handfuls).

Then stuff it into a pita pocket.

I also made some green beans and peas on the side.

Last night he made everyone taste it and tell him as soon as we tried it what we thought. It was not bad. Asian meets Italian meets Greek.

Then when putting him to bed last night he said, "You know mom that was some good dinner we had tonight." He was very proud.

Easter Weekend

Friday morning we all got up. Got dressed and went to the dentist. Nothing like replacing a cap and getting a good cleaning just before Easter. The kids did great and we went to McDonalds afterwards for breakfast.

Friday afternoon/Evening was the birthday party. I think that deserves it's own post so I will save the details. Just know that my Brother in law and my sister in law and her baby all came over after the party and didn't leave until almost 10. So it was a late night.

Saturday morning early ALlen went to the store to buy stuff to make breakfast tacos for the work crews at church. We made them and I took them up and decided to stay and work. All was good. Until I had to use the restroom. Well we still don't have our plumbing in place yet so we have a porta potty out at the new building. So I went to use it. Very careful not to let my tussy touch the seat I did let my legs touch the edge so not to fall and as I did this I felt something burn me. I stand up and there is a smooshed wasp. I was bit by a wasp while going potty. I took some of the kids benydryl and went on working. Finally I was tired and filthy and went home to shower.

We had some running around to do. Grocery Shopping. Going to Target to spend Birthday gift cards. Nothing spectacular. Well Christina and I run over to mom's house for a little bit to get her Easter dress. It was a dress I wore when I was a little girl and my mom had saved it. While there my brother shows up and asks what Allen is doing. I told him that he was home with Isaiah and so he called him. I get home and Allen said that he was going to go help my brother DJ a wedding at the last minute. These people's DJ just didn't show up. How heart breaking. They get there get set up and of course the computer won't work so their music selection is pretty limited but they are making it work and apologizing because normally they have time to customize the music to the event. THe couple did not care they were just glad there was music and family members were bringing up CD's so they could play them. Allen got home at one a.m.

While he was gone I got the kids down to bed and filled all the eggs for the Easter Bunny and when I was pretty sure the kids were asleep I helped the Easter Bunny hide a few eggs. Well about that time son walks out and says he needs to go potty. So I tell him to go potty and go back to bed.

Next morning he said he saw me putting an egg on a cup. I told him he must have been dreaming (the cat knocked that egg over anyway so there was no egg on a cup). Later when getting him dressed again he said he saw me with an egg. I said if he saw me with an egg it was only to fix it because it fell. He accepted this answer. He is only six I want the easter bunny to last longer.

After the kids work up they hunted Easter Eggs inside (it was too dark ourside and too many critters). Had breakfast and got ready for church. Church was good. And after church we went to my parents. Well they got candy for their birthday from my grandmother and candy from my mom for Easter. So they wanted to eat it. They already had candy that morning and cupcakes at church because it had just been their birthday. Well I said sure its Easter and let them eat it. They had that and cookies later and full sugar Kool-Aid and a nuber of other items filled with sugar. At one point my daughter was talking so fast, high, and silly that I thought she might be speaking in toungs. We kept them up late that night and let them sleep in Monday.

Oh and while at my moms house after the easter egg hunt outside. My brother (13 years old) and Isaiah started throwing the empty plastic eggs at each other. Before you know it everyone is tossing the plastic eggs at each other. It was crazy. It was like a snow ball fight with plastic easter eggs. Isaiah was so red faced and tired but he had so much fun because he kept nailing my brother right on the head with those suckers. The kid has a great arm and great aim. Maybe I should look into T-Ball.

Happy Birthday!!!

Yep today my babies are a year older.

Isaiah turned 6 and Christina turned 4. And yes you are reading that correct, they were born on the same day just two years apart. I think it makes a special bond between them. They know they share a birthday. What I love is that I only have to plan on party. This year we will celebrate on Friday. I will post the details then of the High School Musical party.

Just wanted to post a happy birthday to my kiddo's.

I love them so much.

Weekend recap

Well this was definatly one of those weekends.

Saturday morning we got up had breakfast and told the kids it was time to clean their rooms. Isaiah is a stasser for cleaning so I had to pull things out from under the train table and behind shelves and such. He also had been just tossing toys into any bucket he could find on his shelf with no rhyme or reason to it. So I scooted everything to the middle of the floor and then dumped all the buckets out there as well. We lined up all the containers and started sorting everything out. He was a huge help and actually said he likes when we clean his room like this its fun.

I told him when we go to the store later he can pick out a prize for all the hard work (this type of cleaning is more then just daily cleaning and I think it deserved a prize).

Allen was helping Christina. Let's just say it didn't go as well. She is not one to clean and we have not forced the issue so that is our fault. They were in there three hours and it was still not done. She just would not help him and he would not do it withouth her helping.

I went in there yesterday afternoon for 20 minutes and we knocked out a chunck of it but she still has not finished.

Okay back to Saturday. After cleaning we go into town have lunch and go to the craft store (Christina and I) and the music/book store (allen and Isaiah). We meet the boys at the music store after getting a few things for the party. Isaiah said he was ready to go. Allen said that is fine and we would he just wanted to look at the magazines for something. They head over there and Isaiah throws a huge temper tantrum about being ready to go. Talking back, crying, all of it. They leave I go pay for everything. I get to the car and he is still in full on tantrum. It finally gets better.

We go to the grocery store get what we need for the week. We get home put the groceries away and let the kids play a little bit (still encouraging Christina to get her room done). I get dinner made. It was tough but finally the kids ate something. Then it was time to brush teeth and go to bed. Christina decided it was her turn to just melt. Temper tantrum like I have not seen over brushing teeth. We got through it, but she has to go to bed with out her back rubbed.

Sunday was better but we still had some issues. Christina is definatly in a tantrum phase and an "I can't" phase. I pray they pass quick.

The Fever that won't quit.

Okay last week on Wednesday I pick up Isaiah and he has a fever. He did not feel good, but no other symptoms of illness. He stayed home with daddy on Thursday fever still wouldn not go down. We got him an appointment Friday morning with the doctor. Of course he wakes up Friday with no fever. Still go to the doctor. She thinks his body is just fighting a respatory infection and he is fine. All weekend and week he is fine. Today Allen picks him up from day care and he is acting tired. Says he doesn't feel good. Allen takes his temp and its just over 100. I told him to give him tylonal. I don't know if he was outside playing hard and is just tired and the temp is from the playing or what. I wish I knew. He is going to go to the movies tomorrow with the day care group. He missed a reading party last friday at school and I would hate him to miss this as well. If it is a fever of course we will keep him home, but i pray its not. I am so tired of all the gunk in the air and the funky weather changes that are getting and keeping everyone sick. Be hot or be cold but stop with all this.

But I need it.

Yesterday I was talking to my son about how drop off this morning was going to go. I had to take both kids to day care this morning (he is on spring break) and they both go to two diffrent places on opposite sides of town. So I told him since his school was so close to home I would drop him off first, but I couldn't stay and talk today I had to have hugs and kisses and get going.

Isaiah said that was fine and went about playing with his new hot wheel car that my brother had found and gave to him.

A few minutes later he told me ,"I don't have to have hugs and kisses. You can just frop me off"

Me, "What? I always get hugs and kisses. Do you not want to give me hugs and kisses anymore?"

Isaiah, "I want to but I don't need them so you won't be too late for work"

Me, "What if I NEED them?"

Isaiah, "You didn't get them this morning?"

I thought about it and he was right he was playing with the dog at the day care when it was time for me to go and just told me bye.

Me "Oh, that's what's wrong today"

Isaiah, "What?"

Me "I didn't get an Isaiah hug or kiss this morning and my day has seemed to be off all day. Now I know what happens if I miss a hug and kiss from you."

Isaiah "Mom, your crazy"

Me "I love you"

Isaiah "Yeah I love you, but your still crazy"

Then I got a hug and kiss.

Horton Hears a Who

Well Friday morning I got an email from Fox7 News that we wond four passes to see a special screening of Horton hears a Who. I was so excited. Saturday morning we took the kids. I thought I had been to an advance screening of a movie before but this was unreal.

The movie started at 10:00 we knew seating was not guaranteed. So we got there at 8:40 and at that point there were already about 80-100 people in line. We got in line and it was cold. They theatre didn't want to open until the promotions people for the movie got there. Finally they decided to move the line inside. Awsome.

Well they announce that if you have a phone that can take pictures or videos then you will have to take it back to your car. They can't allow those in. So I take our phones and run back to the car with them. Go and get back in line with Allen and the kids. The kids are getting so antsy. They have started chasing each other in a circle around Allen. There wasn't room for them to go anywhere else. They like to play a game of guess the animal where one says they are thinking of an animal and then give one clue about it and the other guesses the animal. I tried to get that started but nope running around daddy was much more fun. My toes were stepped on so many times.

They finally let us into the theatre at 9:30 but only after we empties pocked and bags and were wanded (you know the security metal detecting wands that they run over you at the airport). Even the kids were asked about phones and what was in their pockets and wanded. We were heading in and Allen saw they were giving out Horton Ears so he sent me over to get some with Isaiah and he and Christina went to find the seat. Isaiah got his and I asked for a pair for Christina. The lady said that she had to be with me no adults could have them. She was very snippy. I was as polite as could be and said okay thanks I'll go get her. Isaiah was upset he said mom what about Christina's ears you didn't get her any ears. I told him I would go get her and bring her back and hopefully they would still have some. If not maybe he could share. The lady pushed a pair of ears in my hand and said here take them. Glad for one less trip up and down the stirs but really I was going to go get her.

Get in get the kids settled ears on ask about potty runs no one has to go (except me) and so that means another trip down the stairs. I figure while down there to get the snacks. Then after ordering two kids movie meals and two large drinks and a medium popcorn I am by myself and there is no way to carry it all. The kind young teenager behind the counter must have sensed my dread and offered me a tray. Great.

Go back up the stairs get the snacks distrubuted and settled in.

The movie finally starts at 10:15 after several people have to say thanks to everyone form coming out and braving the cold. I don't know where they are from it was cold with the wind and in the shade outside but cold as in 35-40 degrees. No rain no ice nothing like that. Okay. Movie time.

I am a huge Dr. Suess fan. My kids love this story in particular. I always use the line "A perons a person no matter how small" when Christina gets upset that kids pick on her cause she is small. I did not have high hopes for this movie I know hollywood has to twist it make it work for the money. Well they did take some creative licence with it but all it all it was a great movie. The liberties taken were done in Suess style so I do recomend the movie. Both my kids made it all the way through with no major figiting episodes. Pretty good for them.

THings they say

Last night in continuing with the letting my children watch too much TV we decided to want the newly released 101 Dalmatian animated movie. I can't say this was a favorite of mine growing up. I didn't hate it but still not my pick of top 10 Disney movies.

So we are all watching it. And then on the screen come Cruella Devill. Christina asks me if she is mean. Well not an easy answer. We have reserved the term mean to be used for strangers that want to hurt you. So I said no, she is just very greedy and selfish and so that makes her not very nice. I feel we answered well.

These are the words from my dear sweet daughters mouth...
"I am greedy, but I am still nice"

Well at least we now know she realizes she has the greedy gimmes, I thought we were not getting through her about always wanting stuff. She understands, I take it she just does not care. She is proud of her greed.

I love my kids.

The laughter alone that brings tears like last night when she said this are just priceless.

Too much TV?

Okay when we first were planning our family and knowing that we were adopting children that were already 1 and 3 we had the great TV debate. How much TV is too much? Well surely educational programs are fine and a little here and there won't hurt. We knew we didn't want to use the TV as a babysitter and that TV time would be limited its the best way.

Here is the problem my husband and I are TV junkies. I admit it. I love TV. I love movies. I need visual entertainment from the little/big box in my living room.

So as the months and years go by we find ourselves with the TV on more and more. I am not proud, but its how it has become. Now I don't realize it too often, but last night I realized that we have been watching it more then usual.

After dinner when I turned the TV on my daughter (almost 4) asks me what we are going to watch. I inform her that its almost time for American Idol but nothing is on right now. Her next question is the one that made me laugh and realize how much TV we watch.

"Mom is that the singing show, the dancing show, or the house show?" Yep without fail we seem to watch American Idol, Dancing with the stars or Dance War, and Extreme Makeover Home edition.

Well I won't chalk this up to failure as a parent and I still have time to redeem my children from a life of being couch potatoes. It's March the wind is blowing and we have kites. Let's go fly those kites.
