Morning People?

It has been a strange week. At our home I usually wake up and get ready and get the kids lunches and backpacks ready and then I head to work. Allen is in charge of getting the kids up, dressed, and out the door. This works well for us.

Well Allen is an assistant teacher in a Kindergarten Class. If the lead teacher is out he is the sub and has to work her hours. She works early. So if this happens I have to get the kids up and dressed and to school.

Wednesday and Thursday this was the case. She has the flu so Allen went in to cover. I love my kids, but I am not a morning person. And it turns out my daughter is not either. My son can function at a normal level, but is not jumping around excited. My daughter on the other hand is another story. No matter what I did it was not right. I had the wrong clothes. I didn’t let her sleep enough. I didn’t wake her up early enough (yep, turned out she thought she needed her hair in curls yesterday but to do that I would have had to get her up earlier and rolled it-no time for that). No matter what the case she would start to fuss. I did whatever I could to avoid a full on fit. The bad parent that I am turned on the TV and let them watch a few minutes of their favorite movie so that I could get their lunches and mine put together.

We got out the door, we made it to school, all in one piece both days. No one seemed to be too much worse for the wear. I did notice my hair is fading and I think I gained a few gray hairs. That is okay its about time for a dye job.

I love my kids but I think letting my husband deal with them in the morning is best.
